NDA 2023 Notification: Eligibility, Date, Application Form, Vacancy

National Defence Academy (NDA) exam is a national-level entrance exam to recruit individuals for vacancies in different wings of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. NDA is a final gateway for students looking to join other Defence fronts and pave their couriers in it. The authoritative body conducting the NDA exam is Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and therefore the only authorized body to issue guidelines for the exam. NDA is generally conducted twice every year. The NDA exam is conducted in 2 stages – The written exam (GAT and Mathematics) and SSB Interview. After the selection process begins a training period of about 3 years is mandatory. Steps to register for the NDA 2023 exam are mentioned below:

  • Go to the official website of the Union public service commission. Upsc.gov.in
  • Click on the part 1 form of NDA 2023
  • Register for the exam, chose your preferred branch, and submit personal details.
  • Print out the registration/application form
  • User ID and password are also generated for future updates and notifications in the exam.

NDA exam date

The NDA exam date has been uploaded on the official UPSC site upsc.gov.in for NDA 2023. Candidates preparing for the upcoming NDA exam must take note of the updates, notifications, and deadlines issued by UPSC for NDA 2023 so they do not miss out on them. Below are the important exam dates for NDA 2023 which may be subject to change as per the latest guidelines issued by UPSC which is the conducting body of these exams.

NDA exam pattern 2023

The NDA exam is a written (Pen-Paper) exam and can be conducted in 2 mediums English and Hindi. Candidates need to clear the written test to qualify for SSB Interview. Written Test consists of General Ability Test (GAT) and Mathematics. The General Ability Test section has 150 Questions while Mathematics has 120 questions making the NDA exam paper 900 marks. After the Written exam, comes the SSB interview. In order to qualify for the SSB interview, Candidates need to attain the cutoff score set by NDA in the particular year.

 NDA eligibility:

Age and Marital Limit for NDA eligibility

Ø Individuals born before July 1, 2006, and after July 1, 2004, are Eligible for the NDA 1 exam

Ø Individuals born before January 2008 and after January 1, 2005, are eligible for the NDA 2 exam

Ø Candidate (Male/Female) appearing for the exam must be Unmarried.

Ø The date of birth mentioned in the registration form of NDA 2023 must be the same as mentioned in the Matriculation certificates.

Nationality for NDA eligibility

Ø Any candidate with an Indian citizenship

Ø Any subject of Nepal or Bhutan

Ø Any Tibetan refugee who migrated to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling in India permanently

Ø Any PIO (Person of Indian Origin) who migrated with the intention of settling in India.

Stream Wise Qualification Requirements for NDA eligibility

NDA Recruitment Positions Educational Qualification for the Candidate
Army Wing of NDA Exam Pass certificate in 10+2 exam from a recognized board or University.
Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy Candidates should have passed their 10+2 or equivalent from State Education Board or University with Physics and Mathematics.
10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy Candidates should have passed their 10+2 or equivalent from State Education Board or University with Physics and Mathematics.

Height and Weight Requirements for NDA

Ø Body Mass Index of candidates should be below 25

Ø Waist to Hip ratio should be 0.9 for males and 0.8 for females

Ø waist circumference should be less than 90 centimetres for men and 80 centimetres for women

Ø Body biochemical parameters should be in normal limits.

NDA Vacancy:

There are about 400 vacancies for the NDA 2023 exam which are expected to come out with the first official notification of the UPSC Board. NDA vacancies for the year 2021 have been announced separately for every defense academy. The total number of openings differs in each of the 2 performing NDA exams. For the NDA 1 exam 2021, the total vacancy was 400 posts while for the NDA 2 exam 2021 the total vacancy was 400 making it a total of 800 vacancies.
